The Summer Months - Festival Fashion

Isle of Wight, Glastonbury and Oxygen and Electric Picnic here on our home turf are all fast approaching. Summers is made for Festivals, and festivals require Festival-Chic!
Miss Emerald Apple is here to reveal her Festival Fashion survival guide!
Festival season is here in all its glory hippie-jam band new-age/new-wave acoustic punk rock glory! However dreary and muddy the setting may be, there is no reason why we should be! It's easy to be prepared and packed for a fun-filled girly-girl festival weekend.
In recent years the taboo of caring how you looked and what you were to a festival seems to have melted away. Who could forget Kate Moss' hotpants/waistcoat/welly combo a few summers back? With the weather seemingly changing at the drop of a hat, outdoor festivals require the ultimate in 'anything could happen' garb - it could be scorching hot in the afternoon with torrential rains and mud baths by night. So what exactly should you be packing in your festival bag that will come in handy, look great when it is pulled out and won't totally weigh you down? Always opt for layers that you can peel off or pile on with climate change - these should include lightweight shower-proof jacket. Wear a vest top underneath a long-sleeved top that can again be tied around you waist or converted into this summers craze of a warm weather scarf if you get hot Don't even joke about wearing stilettos and even a cork wedge is a little ridiculous, no matter how glam you think you are there is no need to be standing all day on uneven ground in heels. If you are over the whole adorable coloured wellie look (as I am) opt for rainproof ballet flats! American companies like J. Crew and New York designer Tory Burch have designed signature jelly flats in a variety of shades that are just adorable!
Any die-hard festival go-er will know that event fields are are just that- a field! not a runway. Not all of life's luxuries need to be left behind in your bedroom and just chose travel friendly and all-in-one beauty options.
Keep it toned down and natural. A small smattering of dark brown mascara and a neutral lip gloss can brighten any face.
Go for complete palettes jam-packed with all the make-up you will need like from Too Faced or Jemma Kidd. Forget pancake thick foundation and instead pack a "two birds, one stone" SPF15 tinted moisturizer. As strict as I normally am about ALWAYS completely your nightly facial cleanse, let it go for a day or two-some times a break and fresh air is good for the skin. Pick up a packet of some do-all wipes for easy action, try and go for those that are aimed at removing make up and will even wash off your waterproof masc! Sporting eau-de-body odour will not help your glam festival chick aura shine! Stay fresh with a stick of mini deodorant and a light clean-scented body mist or spray - never a flower perfume or oil. Your hair can be the trickiest of tricks! With sweat, mud, rain and lets face it, beer all wreaking havoc on your folics, wearing it tied up is always that best option! But have fun with it! Adorable headbands are all the rage right now thanks to Blair Waldorf of Gossip and FAB hear wear designer Ronnie. Or, if you don't want want to trek something fabulous or too pricey camping, dig out one of the 50 costume broaches you bought when the girls of SATC starting wearing them and attach it to a ribbon or large elastic band a la Michelle Obama or a host of other Hollywood A-Listers! Ah those crafty Americans, still glam on a budge! When all else fails, shtick it up under a hat! Get stylish with a straw trilby and if you want to be creative, bring different bits of material and ribbons to change out the band. We all know the basics that we need to have with us for a drama free enjoyable festival weekend; Tickets and money (duh), tent and dry bedding (double duh),condoms and painkillers (cause you never know) earplugs and eye mask to aid sleep (in case your girlfriend sharing tent also borrowed some of those johnnys!) But if you are really gonna go all out with a totally fab completely glam girly-festival getaway, keep reading, I've done almost all the leg work for ya! The Outdoor Adventure Store (www.outdooradventurestore.ie) has everything yo could need for a festival in fact, the offer a Festival Deal Package!
