Not Your Mammy's...mammy...??

Compton Model and Scout Lauren Bannon was a ray of sunshine on the TV3 Morning Show this morning discussing the trials and tribulations faced every day by single-mothers in Ireland. Being a mum is of course the sweetest and most rewarding job (not to mention oldest) however, the responsibility and financial strain that comes with the role can be frustrating and overwhelming at any age. Lately celebrity mums seem to be getting younger and younger (Charlotte Church, Ashlee Simpson), not to mention the craze that has arisen of becoming a teenage mum (Bristol Palin, Jaime Lynn-Spears, Model Agent winner CarrieAnne)Being a celebrity mum is a special case, with their personal assistants, personal chefs, personal trainers, shoppers and nannies!

But in the realm of mere mortals, becoming a mum does not have to mean sacrificing the fabulosity that ever woman is caable of and entitled to. Lauren Bannon proves that - flawlessly!

At 25, Ms. Bannon is a former Miss Northern Ireland and as I mentioned a full-time scout and working model with one of Ireland's premier modeling agency, Compton's. This FAB young mother has a daughter, named Alexandra, who is now almost six. Having been single for almost four years, Lauren has been flying solo for most of Alexandra's life. But just because she is without a guy does not mean she is without help. Lauren credits her great support system-mam, dad, family and friends- with the ability to raise her 'tot, work full-time and travel, all while remaining totally glam!Lauren told the Herald,

"It's difficult combining work and motherhood, especially in the current climate, but it's something you deal with. I devote all my time to my daughter over the weekends and during the week we do homework and have fun. I'm very lucky that I have a very understanding family who help me out when I'm busy. ""The majority of my friends have no kids, as they are either studying or working full time . I do have one friend, Gail Kaneswaran, who is also a mother and we chat for hours about our kids. "Having a child at a young age has made me more alert and willing to work harder."It's been such a life-changing experience and one which I treasure. It's hard trying to juggle everything but I'm very happy. "
